IndusInd Bank Appoints Rajiv Anand as New CEO, Bringing 35 years of Experience in Asset Management, Retail & Wholesale Banking

IndusInd Bank on Monday announced that it has approved the appointment of Rajiv Anand as its chief executive officer (CEO )for a period of three years.
Anand retired as deputy managing director of Axis Bank on August 3 upon completion of his third term as a director on the bank’s board
.His appointment comes at a critical juncture for the bank, following a ₹1,960 crore accounting scandal involving derivative trades that led to the resignation of former CEO Sumant Kathpali

Former Deputy MD at Axis Bank, where he led Wholesale Banking and drove the bank’s digital transformation agenda.

35+ years of experience across asset management, retail banking, capital markets, and treasury.

Started with Axis Asset Management Co. Ltd. in 2009 as its founding MD & CEO.

Holds a Commerce degree and is a qualified Chartered Accountant

  • Led Axis Bank’s wholesale and digital banking initiatives with significant growth and innovation
  • Recognized for his deep expertise in capital markets, asset management, and retail banking, and for contributing to high-level committees in financial industry associations.
  • He was chosen over other contenders like Rahul Shukla (HDFC Bank) and Anup Saha (ex-Bajaj Finance)

IndusInd Bank shares rose 4% to ₹803.90 following the announcement, recovering significantly from earlier lows in Morning sessions
